This past week-end i went to a hoiday craft show at the local marriot and got inspired to start my tshirt and decal business so i can sell my goods there at their holiday craft shows and craft shows at other venues. Now where i live theres a ton of holiday craft shows that start right after christmas and run up until a few days before christmas ( I even think at a local fair, they have holiday craft expose that runs for 2 weeks from the end of sept and the first week of oct. 2 weeks in all). Anyways i was there this week-end, looking at the crafts, while be it there was alot of vendors with christmas related items... fabric items, hand made jewelry, glass pendant/solid orniments ( you know the type that looks like pensants, not the glass ball type) but yet no decal type items like i plan on making and selling. You know the glass ball orniments with vinyl lettering on them or the cups with straws with vinyl lettering or even wine glasses decorated with vinyl.. I live in a huge wine region and was shocked at the lack of wine related items (even though there was wine tastings).
My goal is hopefully by next year having this up and going by this time next year. I know i have alot of work ahead of me to acheive this, i plan on making christmas related shirts and hoodies and taking them to the craft shows and making sample orniments with names on them and taking orders for customs.. I also plan on doing the same with cups and wine glasses... I am hoping and praying that i can get this up and going in 2016. I had planned on having it going in 2015 but that didnt work out.
There is 2 vinyl plotters i am looking at.They both will be used in the business but for different applications.. The first is that shilloute portrait and the other is a uscutter 14 in plotter. they both do practcally the same thing but like i stated above they will both be used differently..
For the craft shows the Silhouette Portrait
Why the Silhouette portrait? Wlll because its a small, form factor cutter that can be easily packed up and taken from location to location. This will allow me to cut on the go so to say with my laptop. All i will need at shows will be this, a laptop and blank products..
Now for jobs where i am not on location i plan on using a USCutter 14-inch Vinyl Cutter
Why the USCutter? well that is simple too, it it cuts longer pieces of vinyl. This will be used for longer decals and wall hangings and wall decals that is.
